Jayashree Jangam, born in the family of musicians , started learning Kathak Dance at the age of seven. Her father, Shri B. Swami, a well-known musician-organ player in the Gandharv Natak Company and her brother Shri. Bharatkumar, a tabla player, played an important role in making her a successful artiste.
Nrityakunjan was established on the auspicious day of Dassehra 10th October 1989 in Baroda Gujarat , to promote Pt. Birju Maharaj jee‘s Lucknow Tradition of Kathak , by smt. Jayshree Jangam. After a long span of 16 year in Baroda , Jayashree returned back to her pavilion with the same enthusiasm and strong ambition.
Under the guidance of Jayashree Jangam for the last 10 years, I have learnt many more things like a bonding of Guru-Shishya , humbleness in nature & real aesthetic sense of Kathak dance. Jayashreetai’s padhant (recitation) is excellent which I like very much.
